Inside the incredible upside-down illusion mine in Ukraine

This collection of strange photographs from an abandoned mine gives the mind-bending impression that the ceiling is the ground.

The enormous abandoned salt mine looks like the scene of a sci-fi film set on another planet where up is down and down is up.

A pair of adrenaline junkies decided to venture into the unknown after learning about the creepy derelict mine on the internet.

The mine in Stebnyk, Ukraine is also home to huge artificial salt lakes that were left after it became inactive.

Amateur photographer Yaroslav Seheda, 26, from Irpen, Ukraine, said: ‘We learned about the abandoned mine on the internet.

‘It was a strange feeling, I had never seen anything like this before, it was just vast emptiness.

‘It was like I was on another planet, I felt like a pioneer.’
